At Max Performance we are VERY appreciative of ALL the volunteers at our races. We thank you in advance for helping us put on such great events!  Without your assistance & enthusiasm our races would not be the successes they have become known for. So Thank You!


What do I need to know in order to volunteer?

All you need to be is willing and able. We’ll provide you with all the information and supplies that you need.


What do I get for volunteering?

On event day, each volunteer will be provided with a shirt, breakfast, coffee, snacks and drinks for throughout the event, and access to all of the post race amenities at the finish line.

GROUPS & ORGANIZATIONS:

Max reciprocates handsomely when 12 or more volunteers from a group or organization attend our events, bring the cheer, and assist with race day support! Wanna take it to the next level? 20 or more volunteers doubles your return! Please inquire if you’re a local organization, team, or club that would like to join us on Race Weekend. We work with YMCAs, Rotary clubs, High School teams/clubs, Community Organizations, & Tri Teams to help reach your fundraising initiatives!

Typical Volunteer Positions:

  • Transition Area

    Assist athletes as they enter Transition Area, help rack bicycles, especially any beginner friends. Once the event begins, you'll be assigned to an area and direct athletes IN/OUT of the runways.

  • Registration

    Welcome athletes under the Registration Tent, check IDs and USA Triathlon membership status, distribute welcome bags & t-shirts.


    * After Registration, many volunteers will be reassigned to different locations

  • Body Marking

    Body Marking includes writing the athlete's race number on one hand, biceps, age on one calf (athlete age as of 12/31/2024), If Relay = R, If Duathlon = D.


    * After Body Marking, you will be assigned to another location.

  • Bike Course Marshals

    Located at various checkpoints along the course in Hopkinton, Southborough and Ashland, you'll be provided with an orange vest or orange flag to direct athletes along the course. Many locations have police officers assigned. Remember the bike course is open to auto traffic with restrictions in some locations.

  • Finish Line

    Welcome & cheer athletes into the finish line. Distribute Finisher Medals, hand out/replenish finish line food, assist timing company with backup of the timing checks.

  • Inside State Park Stations - Water & Run Course

    This assignment begins after the early volunteer locations of Body Marking & Registration. Includes manning Water Stations & directing athletes while traveling inside the state park.

  • Parking Team

    Meet at the big tent to go over assignments. Assist athletes as they arrive into the parking areas and direct them to registration. Parking Team will shift to inside park Stations to direct athletes when the race begins.
